What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

Wednesday's guild meeting was the annual ice cream social and the 2026 mystery quilt reveal.  A guild member designed  Big Bang.  

Mine is the one with the gray background, middle row/far right. 

 I've been taken by all the red/white quilts that Lynn/Klein Meisje has made recently. Since I'm in between projects I pulled out all the scrap triangles from the box where I toss them and made HSTs (1.5"-3.5").  While I was at it I sewed some blue/yellow HSTs as well.

 Yesterday afternoon I gave the New Zealand travelog for our AAUW travel group.  All went well.  In the evening I attempted to repeat the presentation via Zoom for P.E.O. but my computer screen kept blacking out.  My P.E.O. sisters were very understanding, I logged back in on my iPad, and the meeting proceeded without the program.  I have a Geek Squad appointment later today!  (And as I type this the computer screen is fine, but I'm going to keep that appointment.)

This year I need to finish some of my UFOs. I started this quilt when teaching several groups in the local area, I wrote the instructions and demo the contsruction for a new block every week.

All the blocks are six inches finished but I have the instructions for the blocks to be twelve inches finished.  I am going to make a few more new blocks as well as demo the original blocks.

The store is a full-line quilt shop and, yay me!, I did not buy anything.  There is an exhibit about Nancy and her career.   

A year ago we made the same trip. It was Stevens' last day trip. Just 110 miles but logistics were getting difficult then.

The July purple is quilted and bound.

 I had a couple of finishes this week.

First is the latest Bonnie Hunter mystery, Old Town. I changed the colors a little, but otherwise followed her instructions.

Below is the version of Star Bright that I made.

Almost-full moon at 5:30 this morning.  Didn't we just have a full moon? The days and nights fly by.

I thought I'd signed up for the guild's 2025 mystery quilt-along in January but it turned out that I hadn't.  I rectified the omission by paying the $10 fee at the meeting last week.  Five weeks' clues dropped into my email box. 

The pattern requires 3-1/2 yards of background (tone-on-tone recommended) and either a jelly roll or 40 2-1/2" strips.  I had a 4-yard piece in lavender (estate sale purchase $5) for the background ...
